Higher Education Consulting
In 2014, Van was appointed to the Accreditation Review Committee of the Higher Learning Commission, the largest secondary school accrediting body in the USA. Drawing upon his experience in the analysis, evaluation and critique of accreditation issues, he now serves as an accreditation advisor to
small, privately held HLC accredited institutions.
Commodity Transaction Advisor
Since at least 1990, Van has been active in the physical commodity sector, both as an attorney and as an entrepreneur. His repertoire includes, among others, Manganese, Coal, Rice, Iron Ore and D2. He currently advises physical commodity traders in the design and implementation of "best practices" (including AML) related to the closing of cross-border commodity trades, including the formation and implementation of escrowed closings and payment of commissions and expenses due third-parties.
Capital Markets Advisor
From both the Regulatory and Private Sector perspective, Van has been a Capital Markets advisor for decades. His experience includes guiding publicly traded companies through Chapter 11 reorganization, capital raise for new and emerging projects, debt financing of mixed use real estate projects, and formation of SPAC initiatives.
